  Keys to Success

The 18th District Juvenile Assessment Center has had the opportunity to serve hundreds of juveniles and their families since opening in June 2000. Since our opening we've identified a few factors that promote future success after receiving help and/or intervention at the JAC.

  1. Families who arrive for their appointment after having considered what strengths exist in each individual and in the family are better prepared to engage in the active participation necessary to define a plan of action for the family.
  2. Families who have realistic expectations after an appointment are more likely to be satisfied with overall progress in the juvenile and the family.
(It is important to keep in mind that the problems probably didn't develop overnight, therefore it may take some time to see results.)

  3. Finally, following through on the resource referrals given to your family is essential. Without taking the necessary first steps, it is not likely that improvement will occur spontaneously.
